Hey everyone, welcome to my recipe site. Today I’m gonna show you a way to make a special dish, Masa/waina. This is one of my favourite food recipe, this time i’am gonna make it a little bit tasty. This will be really delicious.

Masa/waina Recipe. Waina is basically a slightly fermented rice meal that is accompanied with a Nigerian soup like. Masa or Waina is a rice cake that is from the northern part of Nigeria and is traditionally eaten by the Hausa tribe.

You can cook Masa/waina using 7 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Masa/waina

  1. You need 1/2 cup of Rice cooked.
  2. Make ready 4 cups of Jasmine rice. Local or imported.
  3. You need 4 tablespoons of Sugar of to your taste.
  4. Make ready 2 tablespoons of Yeast.
  5. Prepare 1 tablespoon of Salt.
  6. It’s 1/4 teaspoon of Potash.
  7. You need of Casco for frying masa.

Masa/waina instructions

  1. Soak jasmine rice for up to 6hours wash and set aside..
  2. Cook the rice till done, allow to cool down and add to jasmine rice..
  3. Add the yeast to the rice combo. Take to a very clean grinding machine in the neighbourhood and grind till smooth paste..
  4. Keep at home in a warm dry place for 6-8 hours..
  5. Dissolve potash in warm water and add to the batter. Add the salt and sugar. Mix thoroughly..
  6. Heat up the special masa pan and grease with little vegetable oil. Scoop some batter into the pan one after the other till you have filled up all the holes. Fry on both sides till golden brown. I love mine slightly burnt though..
  7. Note. Add your onions before blending if you don't like live onions. Or chop up the onions and add to the batter before frying..
