On a separate bowl, pour in flour, salt, and pepper, paprika (if you want it to have more kick, but this one is optional) and garlic powder and mix it together.This is my version of a delicious, crispy calamares. sweet chili sauce to follow.Enjoy these crispy calamares as pulutan with an ice-cold beer or as a main dish with steamed rice and roasted veggies.Serve with choice of dipping sauces such as spicy vinegar, tartar sauce, garlic aioli, or marinara sauce.

Calamares instructions

  1. Combine squid, garlic salt, & lemon pepper and mix well. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat up cooking oil in a large pan.
  3. Dredge the squid in flour then dip in beaten egg and roll over bread crumbs.
  4. When the oil is hot enough, deep fry the squid until the color of the coating turns brown. Should take about 2-3 minutes in medium heat. Do not overcook the squid.
  5. Remove the fried squid from the pan and transfer in a plate lined with paper towels.
  6. Serve with sinamak or asian dipping sauce.
  7. Share and enjoy!.
