Ingredients of North Indian Rajma Chawal
- It’s 1 cup of Rajma/kidney Beans.
- Prepare 3 tsp of oil.
- You need 2 of Tomatoes.
- Take 1 of Onion (Optional).
- It’s to taste of Salt.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of Red chilli powder.
- It’s 1 tsp of Coriander Powder.
- Prepare pinch of Hing/asafoetida.
- It’s 1 tsp of Garam Masala.
- Make ready 1 of Bay leaf.
- You need 1 tsp of Turmeric Powder.
- Make ready 1 of Dry red chilli.
- It’s 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.
North Indian Rajma Chawal step by step
- Soak Rajma over night or minimum 8 hrs..
- Wash properly and pour it in a pressure cooker..
- Add water 3 cups, little turmeric and one tbs salt and pressure cook upto 4-5 whistle..
- One done check Rajma,should be soft and tender..
- In a wok add oil, once hot,add bay leaf, cumin seeds and heeng.
- Add roughly chopped onion and sotte it..
- One soft and lil transparent add tomato roughly chopped and one green chilli. You can add ginger paste at this stage if you want to. I skipped that as my daughter doesn't like it's taste..
- Once lil mushy,switch off flame and transfer mixture in a mixture bowl and grind in fine paste.
- Now transfer same to wok, and add chilli powder as per taste, coriander powder 1 tbs, and cook it mixture leaves oil..
- Now once oil starts to separate,add cooked rajma in same. Add some water if needed..
- Cook for 10-15 min. You can adds salt as per taste if not sufficient in rajma..
- Once this is done temper it with desi ghee tadka with dry chilli and degi mirch…
