Amrakhand recipe or Mango shrikhand recipe - A variation to the plain shrikhand recipe. This is the popular version in Maharashtra.

Ingredients of Amarkhand

  1. Take 2 cup of curd hung in muslin cloth.
  2. Take 1 cup of powdered sugar or adjust as per taste.
  3. You need 1 tsp of cardamon powder.
  4. Make ready 1 cup of mango puree prefer Alphonso mango.
  5. Prepare 15 of kesar strands soaked in 1 tbsp milk.
  6. Take 8-10 of soaked blanch sliced pistachios.
  7. Take 5-6 of soaked blanch sliced almonds.
  8. You need 1 of mango chopped in cubes for garnish.
  9. Make ready of Pistachios for garnish.

Very thick consistency is the defining characteristic of Amarkhand.Amrakhand or mango shrikhand is one of the best tasting, fruit-based, traditional Indian desserts.Shrikhand is basically a Maharashtrian sweet made with strained yogurt or hung curd, powdered sugar and flavored with cardamom and saffron.Amrakhand aka mango shrikhand is made by adding ground mango puree to the basic shrikhand recipe.

Amarkhand step by step

  1. Hung curd in muslin cloth for extra water drained out for at least 1 hour.
  2. After all water comes out take hung curd in bowl add powdered sugar add cardamom powder add kesar milk mix well.
  3. Add mango puree and add all dry nuts sliced pistachios and almonds..Mix well keep it in fridge for chill atleast an hour…
  4. Garnish it with mango cubes pistachios and kesar strands.
  5. Your chilled yummy amarkhand is ready.
  6. Note..Sugar can adjust as per taste..Drain all water from curd becomes hung curd..

My kids like the frozen treats.So i froze some of the Amarkhand for them to slurp on.Other good fruit to substitute would be 'papaya',if you like papaya.
