Kheer is the original rice pudding, which became part of western cuisine through the British. I like this, but my husband and son didn't (too 'spicy' for them).
Here is the best “Kheer” recipe we have found so far. This will be really delicious.
It consists of rice cooked in milk to which sugar, dried fruits and coconut are added.Rice can be replaced by bulgur, tapioca, millet, vermicelli or corn.The dried fruits can also be pistachios.With the use of saffron pistils, it becomes more or less yellow.
Blend rice, with a cup of hot cooking kheer mix in a blender, and pour into a pot.
Add sugar, cardamom pods and cook for another three to five hours, until milk mix is reduced to half and the colour is a light golden brown.
Pour out in dishes, garnish, chill and serve.
