Khichdi is made often at home for lunch since my younger kid loves it. I make many varieties, this one is similar to the dal khichdi i shared earlier except Hi Swasthi, The only millet I've tried long ago is Pearl Millet or bajra in hindi.

Ingredients of Pearl Millet-Sprouts Khichdi

  1. Take of Bajra soaked for 8 hours 1/2 cup.
  2. Take of Green Gram 3 tablespoons.
  3. Prepare Handful of mixed sprouts.
  4. You need to taste of Salt.
  5. Prepare 1 of dry red chilli broken.
  6. You need 2 tablespoons of Pure ghee.
  7. It’s 1 teaspoon of Cumin seeds.
  8. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon of Asafoetida.
  9. Make ready 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder (haldi).

  1. Combine the bajra, sprouts,daal,salt and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles..

  3. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and red chilli.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida and turmeric powder and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds..
  5. Add the cooked bajra-daal khichdi and little salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally..
  6. Serve immediately..
