Ingredients of Lontong (Rice Cake)

  1. You need 1 1/2 c of long grain rice.
  2. You need 6 c of water (add more hot water if needed).
  3. Prepare 1 tbsp of salt.
  4. It’s 1 sheet of banana leaf (optional).

Lontong (Rice Cake) step by step

  1. Wash rice 2-3 times and put it in rice cooker..
  2. Add salt and water and turn on the rice cooker. If your rice cooker is too small add water (boiling hot) when the Cook button is off, and cook again..
  3. When it starts to bubble, stir every now and then. Cook until Keep Warm button is on..
  4. Lay a deep casserole dish with clean banana leaf..
  5. Put the very sticky wet porridge into the dish and spread it out. Cover with banana leaf and make sure to cover all corners. Cool it down..
  6. Serve this with Gado-gado (warm Indonesian salad), laksa/soto (coconut milk soup with meat), chicken/goat sate. I will upload the recipes later. In the photo I put chicken curry, chokoes-carrot-quail eggs veg in coconut milk..
