Daal chawal is a Pakistani dish that is also quite popular in Nepal and India. It consists of lentils and rice, and it is recommended to use both red lentils (masoor) and yellow lentils (moong).

  1. Prepare 1 cup of rice.
  2. It’s 1/3 cup of split urad dal.
  3. Prepare 1 tbsp of samolina(optional).
  4. You need 1/2 tsp of salt.
  5. It’s 1/2 tsp of baking soda.
  6. You need as needed of Oil.

Dal aur Chawal ka Dosa step by step

  1. Wash and soak rice and dal in a separate bowl for minimum 4 hours..
  2. Drain excess water, and grind to make smooth paste..
  3. Now put rice batter and dal batter in a single bowl and mix it with samolina. Add salt and baking powder. Mix it thoroughly. Add water as per required to make a consistency of dosa batter..
  4. Now cover the bowl and let it get fermented. I prefer to rest it overnight or you can keep it in sunlight for 5 to 6 hours..
  5. You can see the bubbles in upper layer. It shows a good fermentation. Mix it lightly..
  6. Now heat a nonstick dosa tawa. Sprinkle some drop of oil with water. Lower the flame and wipe the oil and water with tissue..
  7. Then spread 2 to 3 tbsp of fermented batter over the tawa. and spread it in a thin layer like disc with the help of flat bottom bowl or laddle..
  8. Now rise the flame to high and put some drop of oil over it. Cook it till golden from bottom and roll it to the plate..
