- Make ready 4 pieces of Bata fishes.
- You need 2 of Onions medium size.
- It’s 1 of Tomato.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Ginger paste.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Cumin paste or powder.
- You need 4-5 of Green chillies - (slitted).
- It’s To taste of Salt.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of Sugar.
- Make ready To taste of Turmeric powder.
- It’s as needed of Baby pumpkins.
- Prepare as needed of Mustard oil.
- You need 1/2 tsp of Cumin seeds.
- Make ready as needed of Coriander leaves.
- Make ready 1/2 tsp of Red chilli powder.
Bata Fish (Reba Carp) with baby pumpkin in a light gravy step by step
- Wash the fishes & marinate with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder& 1/2 tsp salt for 10 minutes..
- Heat mustard oil in a pan & slowly slide the fishes..
- Cover & keep the heat on medium..
- Turn each of the fishes & after frying (both sides should be medium brown)transfer the fishes on a plate..
- In the same oil add cumin seeds, green chillies, chopped onions & fry till onions are golden brown..
- Add ginger paste, cumin paste or powder, chopped tomatoes, baby pumpkins, salt, turmeric powder, sugar1/2 tsp& red chilli powder 1/2 tsp..
- Add 1 cup water mix & give this a quick boil on high flame..
- Then add the fish pieces.Cook on low flame for 10 to 15 minutes..
- Switch off the gas & garnish with coriander leaves..
