Ingredients of (Semolina) Sooji  Kakara Pitha

  1. Take of For the Dough).
  2. You need 1 cup of lightly fried sooji.
  3. Make ready 2 cups of water.
  4. Take 150 gm of jaggery or gud (you can take more or less according to your liking for sweet).
  5. Take 1 of bay leaf.
  6. You need 1 tsp of grated ginger.
  7. Prepare 1 pinch of salt.
  8. Prepare of For Stuffing.
  9. Prepare 1/2 of Coconut grated.
  10. It’s 2 tsp of Clarified butter (desi ghee).
  11. Prepare 50 gm of jaggery.
  12. Prepare 1 tbsp of crushed Kashewnuts, Almonds, Dates (khajur).
  13. You need 1/2 tsp of green cardamom powder.
  14. Take 1 pinch of Karpoor(Camphor,used for Puja).
  15. Make ready of Ghee + oil for deep frying.
  16. You need of For Stuffing.
  17. Make ready 1/2 of Coconut grated.
  18. It’s 2 tsp of Clarified butter (desi ghee).
  19. It’s 50 gm of jaggery.
  20. Make ready 1 tbsp of crushed Kashewnuts, Almonds, Dates (khajur).
  21. You need 1/2 tsp of green cardamom powder.
  22. It’s 1 pinch of Karpoor(Camphor,used for Puja).
  23. Prepare of Ghee + oil for deep frying.

(Semolina) Sooji  Kakara Pitha step by step

  1. Boil 2cups of water with bay leaf and jaggery and a pinch of salt to prepare the dough..
  2. When gud(Jaggery) melts put the grated ginger..
  3. Now add sooji (Semolina) slowly and keeping the flame low..
  4. Stir continuously to avoid any lumps..
  5. Semolina absorbs water and swells up. Now the dough is ready..
  6. For the Stuffing

Heat ghee and when it melts put jaggery.

  1. Stir till melts. Now add grated coconut and crushed nuts..
  2. Keep on cooking till water of coconut evaporates and Coconut looks light brown..
  3. Bring down from flame and add cardamom powder and karpoor powder. Stuffing is ready..
  4. Kakara Making

Allow both the dough and stuffing to cool..

  1. Knead the sooji dough on a flat surface till it softens..
  2. Make balls. Flatten each ball on palm..
  3. Put stuffing at the centre..
  4. Touch the edges of pitha (Kakara) with wet finger.(see the photo)..
  5. Press lightly and give different shape..
  6. Deep fry both the sides till golden brown, on medium flame..
  7. Sooji KAKRA is ready to savour. Enjoy delicious Pitha. Thanks.
