- It’s 1 teaspoon of ginger paste.
- Prepare 1 teaspoon of garlic paste.
- You need 1.5 teaspoon of red chilli powder.
- You need 5 teaspoon of Yoghurt.
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder.
- It’s 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder.
- You need 1 of bay leaf.
- You need 3 of green cardamom.
- It’s 3 of cloves.
- It’s 1/2 inch of cinnamon stick.
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
- Take As required of Salt.
- Prepare 1 teaspoon of ghee.
- It’s As required of Mustard oil.
- Make ready 1/2 cup of coriander leaves chopped.
Doi Katla (Rohu fish in Yoghurt based gravy) step by step
- Marinate the fishes with some salt and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric..
- Heat some oil in a wok and deep fry the fishes. Keep them aside..
- In the same wok, add the cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon stick and bay leaf. Let them splutter..
- Add the chopped onion and the sugar to get caramelized..
- Fry the onions till it gets light brown in colour..
- Add the onion paste and fry it well..
- Add the ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
- Beat the Yoghurt well and add it in the wok..
- Fry them very well until the oil separates..
- Add 1 cup of water and some salt as per taste. Bring it to boil..
- Add the fried fishes and cover it for a while..
- After you get the desired consistency in the gravy, add the garam masala powder and ghee..
- Garnish it with some coriander leaves and remove it from the flame..
- Serve hot..
