Semolina Upma Recipe. Essentially, upma is a thick, porridge-like breakfast dish that is made from coarse rice flour or semolina that has been dry-roasted. Its extremely versatile, so don't be afraid to experiment with ingredients.

Ingredients of Semolina Upma

  1. You need 1 cup of semolina or suji.
  2. Make ready 4 cups of boiled water.
  3. Prepare 2 of onions finely chopped.
  4. Take 2-3 of green chillies chopped.
  5. You need 1 inch of Grated Ginger.
  6. Take 2 tbsp of green peas.
  7. Take 5-6 of Curry leaves.
  8. You need leaves of As required Chopped coriander.
  9. You need 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
  10. You need 1 tsp of urad dal.
  11. Make ready 1 tbsp of oil.
  12. You need of As per taste salt.
  13. Prepare 1 tsp of ghee.
  14. Take 1 tsp of lemon juice.
  15. Make ready of As required Barik sev for garnishing.

Add mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal and onion.Add semolina and saute until light brown.Add remaining ingredients, except coconut, and mix well.Wheat Semolina Upma: -Wheat semolina is another healthier option when compared to white semolina.

Semolina Upma step by step

  1. Firstly dry roast semolina on low flame till it's slightly pinkish in colour and becomes aromatic..
  2. Now, boil 4 cups of water..
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in a kadhai and add Mustard seeds, let it splutter, now add urad dal, then add, Curry leaves, Chopped green chillies, grated ginger and chopped onions. Saute well..
  4. Now add green peas. Cover and cook till peas are soft and tender. Now add roasted semolina and salt. Mix well..
  5. Now to this add boiling water and keep stirring to avoid formation of any lumps. Mix well cover and cook for another 2 mins..
  6. Now, finally add chopped coriander leaves, ghee and lemon juice. Switch off the flame.
  7. Serve hot and tasty upma by garnishing it with barik sev with ginger tea.
